Acme Service Clubs & Organizations

Acme Angels

The Acme Community Angels is an organization started in 2006. Our goal is to make Acme a safe and caring community. We feel the first way to feel safe is to know your neighbours. So in order for you to meet those neighbours in an easy laid back environment, we plan community events every few months. Everyone is more than welcome at these - families, couples, singles, seniors, teens - you get the idea. Keep your eyes open for coming events. We advertise by posters around town, Village of Acme Newsletter & Acme Reader Boards.

If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer, please feel free to call Trish 403.546.3988Come and join the fun!!!!

  • To encourage improvement in agriculture and quality of life of persons living in an agriculture community by developing programs and facilities based on need in the community

  • To enhance and grow memberships and activities with greater community involvement

  • To provide education and improvement to all members of the community

Royal Canadian Legion Branch #76

The Royal Canadian Legion is a Non-profit Canadian ex-service organization. However, it is now open to the general public to join as affiliate members, and the Acme Legion is now accepting new members. With the help of fellow members and volunteers the Legion could do more for the communities we live in.

The Acme Legion is proud to sponsor on going projects and groups through out the surrounding communities. We continue to support veterans in need through our annual Poppy Campaign.

The Acme Legion is currently open Friday evening starting at 7:00 pm for darts or pool as well as every second Sunday of the month for a cribbage tournament starting at 10:30 am, where you are welcome to stay for a nice home cooked dinner. These events are open to anyone wishing to attend them.

Keep your eyes open for more events being planned. We hope to host a variety of fun activities in the near future.

Acme Food Bank

The Acme and District Food Bank has been in existence since 1973. It has been able to help many people in need because of the generous support of people, businesses and non-profit groups in the communities of Acme, Linden, Swalwell, Sunnyslope, and the surrounding areas.

Currently we are storing the food at the Acme Curling Rink and have been for years. The Acme Curling Club have renovated their building to accommodate the Food Bank with a larger storage facility. For that we are extremely thankful.

We gratefully take donations throughout the year. The Village of Acme will take the cash or cheque donations and can make out the tax receipts for you there. If anyone would like to donate non-perishable food items you can call anyone of the committee members listed below.

There are also some key events that happen in Acme that will accept donations for the Food Bank such as The Annual Acme Fire Department Candy Cane Run which usually takes place about a week before Christmas. The Acme School Christmas Concert also asks parents to bring a non-perishable food item when they come to the concert. These are just some of the events but there are many others.
